ASCENT was inspired by various books, conversations and podcasts.
Not so long ago the connection to nature was the norm. We lived our life in the rhythm of the seasons. We humbly accepted our limitations and our place in the cycle of life. This also included gratitude for the generosity of Nature, that provides us with food, shelter, entertainement, beauty, ... Back when there was still room and time to contemplate and wonder on the litterally larger-than-life intelligence surrounding us. The same intelligence that engineered us.
But at some recent point in the history of Men the dominant narrative changed. With Christianity mankind became the center of the universe and of this experience called Life. God would have created us to rule and dispose. And all those - mainly women - who kept the old ways alive and offered an alternative value system by among other healing with plants became a threat for that narrative and those who craved power on the mind. Outcasts. Burn them witches. Patriarchy kicked in.
Fast foward to our modern day era. We see an explosion of psychological distress, disorders and diseases many link to a lack of nature exposure. Anxiety has taken its toll on kids. Food has become less nutrient. Our soils are poorer than ever before. Plastic and chemical pollution levels seen today are unprecedented. To top it off there's a giant threat called climate change that our western culture generated. I guess Mother Nature has a funny way of reminding us that we need to make peace with our true essence. There's a limit to our horizon. We need to humbly re-integrate the larger story happening on this limited planet. Change our culture. Make peace with our Feminine and Masculine. Rewire our brains. Redefine habits and boundaries. Another story of the prodigal son. Evolve or die.
